Character

Janis is very tall for a woman, standing somewhere between 5'10" and 6'2'', it is hard to tell whilst she is wearing boots, and she nearly always is.

Her frame and her demeanor seem stern, strong, tough, and unyielding, which matches well her attitude towards most things. She is not much for guff, or nonsense, most times, especially with those she does not know or trust. She does not trust many. It is hard to be certain of her actual physical frame, however, because of the strategically placed pieces of lighter plate mail she wears (more often and more frequently than is probably healthy). Some pieces are a standard gray-silver, but many of them have also a white laquer coating with a gold trim, mostly her forearms and shoulders, which are indeed fairly toned.

She is unnaturally strong for her build, frame, and gender, whatever the case actually may be, and rumours abound that she can wrestle and pin a man to the ground in an unbreakable choke hold. No evidence of these so-called fighting rings has been found, however, perhaps it is only a base rumour meant to sully her reputation, keep others at a distance, or inspire fear or curiosity?

She is not stupid by any means, but neither does she have the patience of the mind of a master strategist. Her military leadership is adequate. She leads competently and with good morale, often using simple advantages like natural terrain to gain small advantages over her opponents. Though her one experience with daemons left her a bit shaken at the time, it has helped her confidence against what she now considers lesser foes, that generally meaning, men.

Originally coming to Obia'Syela with aspirations for becoming a Knight-Templar, a Cavalier, she is more interested in leading a strong Mixed Infantry force, with throwing spears, round shields, and battle skirts. She generally only leads women if she can enough find women soldiers for her group. She is no longer interested in becoming a military figure, nor leading a grand Cavalry charge into battle as her uncle regaled her with such stories, instead learning she has a great prowess for management and efficiency.

She is hesitant to apply for the Grand Banker position, thinking that to be too much dedication to the life of banks, charters, and other stuffy book-keeping things, still holding onto the idea she might find valour and glory in combat. No, instead, she hopes she will be the first of her family to become a Duke- a Duchess- and truly find her calling, as she knows Obeah lead her here with visions of great towers and walls of gleaming ivory stone.

Her faith is strong, but it comes only in bursts, and has waned somewhat since the daimons left the continent. The Great Lady Rania is still an admirable and respected prophet, but much of her original awe has faded, and several times, she has come dangerously close to thinking thoughts about the differences between the path of Obeah and the path Lady Rania envisions.

She may or may not currently be involved with someone.

While she does not like to talk about her temper, or let it define her in any way, she has had trouble adjusting to a fully noble life, her temper taking over in many situations where it would be better it hadn't, and not showing up whatsoever on the battlefield or in conflicts where it might be channeled usefully, only in the written word thus far. There is a great deal of history involved her flaring temper, which she hopes will never come to light, for that too could ruin her aspirations...
